Early Times Report
Sunderbani, Dec 16: Though the erstwhile government had been accused of being neckdeep in corruption that led to its defeat, the present regime has failed to make any difference. The living example of a malpractice in regard has been found in Sunderbani tehsil where a work allotted by the Rural Development Department for a construction of veterinary hospital is full of corrupt and malicious intention of the middlemen. The department through its Block Development Officer Sunderbani on 23 December 2008 allotted the work for the construction of a veterinary hospital at village Barnada, Panchayat Nala Makol, tehsil Sunderbani and district Rajouri to one Ramesh Kumar through the gram sevak Thoru Ram. It is pertinent to mention that any work allotted at in villages is through the gram sevaks who prepare the estimate and then get the money released through the department to the concerned person. In this case the work allotted for hospital construction had the estimated cost of Rs 9 lacs, 91 thousand that was got sanctioned by the department to Ramesh Kumar through the gram sevak Thoru Ram. "Since I got the hospital constructed in the stipulated time in 2009-2010 and then got engaged with Thou Ram to get the money released. After many repeated requests, Thoru Ram released only 6 lacs and 5 thousand only, while the remaining amount of Rs 3 lacs and 86 thousands were siphoned off by Thoru ram," alleged Ramesh Kumar. Kumar said despite many application sent to the department, o cognizance was taken as he said that he belonged to a very poor family and had put in all his resources to get the hospital construted in time. Kumar alleged that though he has got all bills intact with him , yet Thoru Ram did not released his money since he had refused to 'adjust' and 'appease' Thoru Ram's relative in the construction work. The aggrieved had demanded the vigilance enquiry into the matter and said that he wants to stand all testimonies as he has got all the records straight with him. When contacted, the present Block Development Officer Sahil Jandiyal said that he will take up the matter. "Let the aggrieved come up with an application to me so that I can initiate proceedings in the case. If he wants to take up the vigilance inquiry also, he would be given full support," said Sahil Jandiyal. The RDD minister Abdul Haq Khan also gave a patient hearing to the aggrieved and assured full cooperation. "Let the case come to me. I will enquire into the matter and if any government agency or an official concerned would be found guilty, he will be taken to the task," said the Minister. |
