Jammu, Dec 16: Contrary to Government's claims to promote small scale industry in the State, the Shastri Nagar Division of Power Development Department (PDD) has not allotted power connection to newly established Small Scale Industry Units (SCIUs) in SIDCO, Bari Brahmana even after two years.
An owner of newly established small Industrial unit in SIDCO Bari Brahmana area said that two years before he started the construction of industrial unit, he had applied for power connection in Shastri Nagar Division of PDD, but the department has so far not allotted the power connection. "
Many such small, but aspiring industrialists who have set up their units under self employment schemes have been frustrated by the lackadaisical approach of the PDD that has failed to provide them a power connection, which is basic requirement of an industrial unit. "Our loans liabilities are swelling and production has either not started or units are working on generators, making them economically non feasible" said proprietor of a unit.
It is pertinent to mention that despite the Government order No.152-PDD of 2011 dated 28-04-2011 wherein the Government had directed to department concerned to hold regular meetings for the sanction of new connection and additional load of the industrial units, nothing had happened.
"It is well planned conspiracy hatched against proprietors by the officials concerned to earn illegal money", they alleged. |
