Jammu, Dec 15: Police today claimed to have recovered a minor girl of Janipur who was kidnapped on December 5 last from Bagh-e-Bahu area.
Police sources said a 16-year-old girl was allegedly kidnapped by one Bilal Ahmed, son of Parvez Ahmed of Housing Colony Quarters, Janipur, while she was returning along with her younger brother after paying obeisance at 'Bawe Wali Mata'.
Sources said the accused stopped the minibus in which the girl was travelling and abducted her, threatening her of dire consequences in case she resisted.
The matter was reported to Bagh-e-Bahu police.
Acting swiftly, police raided various places including a hotel at Katra. Police said the involvement of the owner of the hotel in which the accused kept the minor girl at Katra could not be ruled out.
A few of the friends and relatives of the accused were questioned and finally the police succeeded in arresting the alleged kidnapper from Amritsar late last night and the minor was rescued safely from his clutches.
After her medical examination, the girl was handed over to her parents by police.
An FIR under section 363 of RPC was registered against the accused. |
