Govt mulling to appoint professional heads in corporations and other departments | | | Ishtiyaq Ahmad Early Times Report Srinagar, Dec 16: The Jammu and Kashmir government has taken a serious note of poor working in various departments especially in corporations which are being run by non-professionals. Reliable sources in the government told early times that the government has decided to make several corporations and other departments to be run by the professionals. According to the sources the Government is looking for a suitable substitute who would head the J&K Cements Limited. "The present Managing director who has failed to run this vital corporation is likely to be changed in the next cabinet meeting," sources said. A non-technical person is working as Managing Director J&K Cements Limited, who according to sources is not eligible to head this important business plant and has resulted in significant downfall in the production of cement. Sources also said that government wants to appoint a professional to head the Jammu and KashmirTourism development corporation (JKTDC) which is headless from last several months. "It is the vital department which needs a tourism professional." Sources said and added that government also thinks that different links of the tourism will also require professionals to run the departments in a better way. Sources said that government wants to delink some departments with the KAS cadre which are in dire need to have professionals. "By appointing professionals there, the functioning of these departments could be improved. Jammu and Kashmir Arts and emporium is also in a dire need to have professional, which will improve the functioning of this corporation. We have also a lot of professionals in the agriculture field and needs to be appointed to run the Agriculture Department, who has ample knowledge about this field," an official of the government told early times. Sources added that government is also contemplating to appoint professionals in floriculture, sericulture, education, culture, finance etc who can bring efficiency and improve the functioning of these departments. |
