Early Times Report Jammu, Dec 16: 2nd Additional Sessions Judge Jammu M K Sharma today awarded life-sentence to Ranjit Singh alias Bittu who murdered his brother over land dispute. 2nd Additional Sessions Judge Jammu M K Sharma after hearing APP KA Qazi appearing for the state observed that protection of society and stamping out criminal proclivity must be the object of law which must be achieved by imposing appropriate sentence. Court awarded rigorous imprisonment for life to accused and fine of Rs.5,000/- for the commission of offence u/s 302 RPC and imprisonment for one year and fine of Rs.1000/- for the commission of offence u/s 3 read with section 25 Arms Act. According to the police case, on 20/01/.2010 at about 6.45 pm, the accused Ranjeet Singh with an intention to kill his brother Amrik Singh on the basis of enmity fired from an unlicensed gun upon his brother at village Nakki, Jindrah, killing him instantly and fled away leaving the weapon of offence on spot. Police Station, Jhajjar Kotli, registered a case under 08/2010 for the commission of offences u/ss 302 RPC and 3/25 Arms Act. The investigation culminated in filing of this charge-sheet against the accused for the commission of offences punishable u/ss 302 RPC and 3/25 Arms Act. --(JNF) |
