Early Times Report Doda, Dec 16: Krishi Vigyan Kendra SKUAST-J, Doda conducted one day training programme on formation of Farmers' Club and farmer organizations at village Kursari. The programme was organized by Dr Narinder Paul, scientist from KVK Doda under the overall guidance of Dr K.S. Risam, Director Extension SKUAST-J. Dr Amit Singh Charak, scientist KVK Doda; Rajesh Badyal, DDM NABARD Doda; Sanjay Kumar, VAEA Kursari and Talib Hussain, Sarpanch Kursari also participated in the programme. Dr. Narinder Paul apprised the participant farmers regarding need, importance and objectives of the farmer organizations including farmer clubs at the village level. "Club formation for farmers is designed to raise the income level of the farmers through credit, technology and capacity building", he added. The democratic methodology for formulation of farmer club, election of chief and associate volunteers etc was also clearly described to the participants. Besides, they were also informed about the roles and responsibilities of the volunteers and office bearers. The role of farmer clubs in extension of recent agricultural technologies using farmer to farmer linkages for effective delivery of extension services and management of available resources especially capital were also deliberated upon in the programme. The programme concluded with the formation of farmer club in the village. 22 farmers from the village voluntarily came forward and formed a club under the name "KVK Farmer Club Kursari. |
