Several condemn temple fire incident as people observe bandh

kishtwar, Dec 16: While several people, including politicians and social activists, today unanimously condemned the burning of a temple and two houses under mysterious circumstances in the communally sensitive Kishtwar district yesterday, a peaceful bandh was observed in the erstwhile Doda district in protest against the incident.
In his statement, JKPCC Vice-President and MLA from Inderwal, Ghulam Mohammad Saroori appealed to the people to maintain peace at all costs. He also spoke to Kishtwar DC Ghulam Nabi Balwan and asked him for an inquiry into the fire incident which took place early this morning at Hurna area of sub-division Chatroo. He said that culprit should be identified and punished under law.
"I stand for the unity and respect for all religions. I won't let any vested interest to disturb the peaceful environment. I condemn any act which hurt the religious sentiments of my brethren" said Saroori.
Congress leaders from Sub-Division Chatroo also strongly condemn the burning of temple and two houses in Chatroo area of district Kishtwar and have demanded high level inquiry into this matter.
Among others who condemn the Chatroo incident include ex-MLA Sajjad Ahmed Kichloo, MLC Firdous Tak, NC District President Tanvir Ahmed Kichloo, PDP District President Sheikh Nasir Hussain, PDP District Youth President Wasil Doolwal, PDP State Secretary (Youth) Umar Malik, NC Youth President (Kishtwar) Farooq Ahmed Dev, Sanjeev Parihar, Abdul Majid Bichoo, Touseef Iqbal, BJP Muslim Morcha President Syed Ahmed Shah, Shabir Ahmed Kamal, ex-MLA Qazi Jalaludin, Mohammad Aslam Dev, Saboor Aslam Dev, Sheikh Moin, Anil Parihar, PDP District President (Doda) Shahabul Haque Batt, Asim Hashmi, Asif Jan Gattu, Zafferullah Rather, Anil Parihar, Naveed Hashmi and ASIF National President Syed Wali Ullah.
Meanwhile, a peaceful band was also observed in Doda, Bhaderwah, Thathri, Premnagar and other parts of the erstwhile Doda district. Heavy deployment of police and para military forces had been put in place in various sensitive areas to thwart any attempt of nefarious elements to destabilize peace and tranquility in the area.
