Erratic power supply irks power consumers | | | Early times report Udhampur, Jan 11 : Residents of Udhampur town are up in arms against the Power Development Department (PDD) for erratic power supply, regular electric cuts and low voltage which has made their life miserable. "Despite the completion of several Power Grid Stations, the power supply to this town has not improved as power supply from the grid is facilitated to other areas, locals said.Praveen Mahadev , a retired Police officer said that residents of Shiv Nagar and govind Nagar Mohalla and the 'A' and 'B' Remhti Mohallas were the worst sufferers. According to locals only 400 KV capacity transformers were established in these Mohallas having the load of at least four commercial units (welding machines), hundreds of households, 500 shops and JK Bank branch . This results in the interruption of power supply even during the scheduled hours due to the overload on this single transformer. Due to this reasons the children suffer the most in the exams time because most of the families are from lower middle class and all cannot afford the transformers at the houses said a local Raj Kumar and we have complained it about hundred times but the administration is in deep slumber, he added. While speaking to XEn PDD Jarnail Singh, he said we have received some complaints before and the Department is working on it assuring that the problem will be resolved as early as possible . |
