JAMMU, Jan 11: The police headquarters (PHQ) has allotted a PSO to the wife of an ex-DIG, who is no more now, even when she does not fall in the category of protected persons. She carried PSOs with her when her husband was alive. However, after his death, the PSOs were withdrawn because the DIG's widow faced no threat to his life from any quarter. Since she had become habitual of moving around with PSOs, she filed an application with PHQ, seeking the allotment of a PSO to her. The PHQ initially turned down her request, but finally allotted her a PSO after the police officers, who were known to her, spoke to their seniors at the PHQ on her behalf, police sources said. "She has now been allotted a PSO permanently," the sources added. Sources said the PHQ allotted her the PSO even when she did not need him. ""She doesn't face any threat from anybody," the sources added. "The woman now moves around with her PSO, flaunting his connections in the state police department," the sources alleged. |
