KMU demands passage of Hindu Shrine bill | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Jan 9: Kissan Mazdoor Union (KMU) today demanded Governor N.N. Vohra to pass Hindu Shrine Bill an earliest to protect, preserve historical temples in the state. According to press release, president KMU G.R. Malhotra said that in the absence of any institutional mechanism for the preservation of the temples and shrines in Jammu and Kashmir, the land mafia is free to indulge in the annexation of the said properties with impunity and without fear of law. He said that their organization has demanded the State Government to pass the Jammu and Kashmir Hindu Shrines and Religious Places (Management and Regulation) Bill on the Pattern of State Gurudwara Prabandhak Board. Malhotra said that district administration Jammu must follow the orders of Madras High court and will prescribe dress for both males and females in Jam mu and Kashmir to enter the temples and must enforce this order strictly. He said this is very important also to preserve our cultural heritage. Those who were present on the occasion were Master Sant Ram, Kasturi Lai, Madan Lai and Ranjit Singh. |
