Jammu, Jan 11: Joint Action Committee (General category) today organized seminar on 'No Reservation in Promotion' at Om Palace Banquet Hall, near Jagat Resort Shakti Nagar Jammu.
According to press release, a huge gathering comprising of participants not only from Jammu but also from other districts of J&K, were treated to thought provoking and enlightening lectures from a galaxy of dignitaries and visionaries from different walks of life, who had graced the occasion.
At the outset, a two minute silence was observed to pay homage to Late Mufti Mohammad Sayeed , former chief minister of State.
On this occasion, those who presented their valuable lectures included Dr Shafat Kakroo, Dy. Director Animal Husbandary, Navneet Singh, Manager Training, FCI, Jammu, Professor Chingari, Mahesh Kaul, Sr.Leader Panun Kashmir, Prof.Ayub Khan, Retd Secty.(JKBOSE), Santosh Gupta,retired HOD Commerce and others.
The speakers spoke in detail about how the concept of reservation in promotion had been allowed to develop over the years for petty political gains despite it being upheld as unconstitutional by a constitutional bench of the Apex Court in "Indira Sawhney" judgment in 1992.
The speakers who being citizens of repute due to their exemplary services in their respective fields, were unanimous and coherent in their views that promotions after the initial appointment must be purely only on basis of merit and seniority as any deviation not only vitiates the environment of merit and efficiency but also demoralizes the affected persons |
