Katra, Jan 11: Shri Swami Nitya Nand Wrestling Association Panthal is organizing "116th Panthal Kesari Vishal Dangal 2016" (Wrestling Competition) at Panthal in District Reasi 8 Kms from Katra town on 14th January 2016 (Thursday) at 1 PM sharp under the aegis of J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association.
The decision to this effect was taken in the office chamber of the President J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association, Shiv Kumar Sharma at Katra. Others who attended the meeting were Pritam Kumar Mangotra, President Parsotam Kumar Mengi, Parsotam Kumar Khajuria (Bittu), Mukesh Khajuria, Om Parkash Sanmotra, Naresh Kumar (Pappu Lakri) and others members of Swami Nitya Nand Wrestling Association Panthal.
Addressing Shiv Kumar Sharma said 65-70 Wrestlers from different States like Delhi, Haryana, Punjab, H.P, Chandigarh in addition to various parts of the State viz Jammu, Kathua, Udhampur, Reasi, Ramban, Rajouri, Doda, Buddal, Kalakote, Moungri, Ramnagar, Roun-Domail, Panthal, Pouni, Akhnoor, Panchari, Damnkote, Panjar, Kalsote, Badote, Ladha, Jasserkote, Sudhmadhadev J&K Police and Dansal etc. are likely to participate in the Vishal Dangal.
He said that a noteable feature of the Dangal is being conducted regularly at panthal for the last 116 years on the eve of Maker Sankranti day. He added that it is expected more than 10,000 sports lovers would come to witness the vishal Dangal. Cash prize money for the Ist bout (Ist malli) is Rs 31,000/-, for the 2nd malli is Rs 21,000/- and for the 3rd malli is Rs 15,000/-.
Shiv Kumar Sharma said, " we have decided to honour the best Wrestler of the Dangal who wins Ist malli as "Panthal Kesari 2016" would be awarded traditional "Silver Gurj (Gadda) and Patta" in addition to handsome Cash Prize".
He said that all the Wrestlers from the whole of India can participate and will get handsome cash prize, free accommodation both sides bus fare and complementary food. The dangal is organized in in traditional "Mud Akhara" and the decision of the referee in every bout will be final.
