Jammu, Jan 20: In order to curb the menace of illicit distillation of liquor, illegal smuggling of liquor from other States, the J&K Excise Department was conducted raids in Jammu and Doda district and also one person arrested with 900 kg Lahan and destroyed.
The arrested person has been identified as Darshan Lal son of Sardari Lal resident of Kotli Chakran was arrested for possessing one bottle of illicit liqour under section 48 of the JOKE Excise Act. In district Doda similar raids were conducted in Bhaderwah and Bhalessa areas and two hundred Kg lahan was recovered and destroyed. The raid was conducted under the command of Inspector Towseef Mustafa.
Under the active supervision of Excise Commissioner, J&K T Angchuk and Deputy Excise Commissioner (Executive), Jammu Shahid Saleem, raids are being conducted in the entire Jammu division to arrest the menace of illicit distillation. Raids were conducted in RS Pura and Bishna area of Jammu district and Bhalessa and Bhaderwah areas of district Doda to arrest the menace of illicit distillation of liquor and other violations.
In the process more than seven hundred kilo grams of Lahan has been recovered and destroyed in the Jammu district by the Excise sleuths under the command of ETO, Excise Range South Jammu Nayeem Mughal and ETO Eradication Suresh Kumar. The team conducted surprise raids in Deoli, Makhanpur, Salehar, Dablehar, Kotli Charkan, Kotli Main Fateh, Phinder, Sikanderpur, of tehsil RS Pura and Bishna.
The J&K Excise Department has re-energized and activated the Eradication and Enforcement Wing Jammu to act as flying squad to take action, as provided under law, on any complaint regarding violation of Excise Law. |
