Police releases seized vehicle of PHE | Political workers, SDPO intervene | | MS NAZKI Mendhar, Jan 20: The GCI pipes meant for several water projects in the area a vehicle loaded with 59 PHE GCI Pipes was seized the other day by Police here, which otherwise would have been sold in black market, sources said. The sources said that the same vehicle was released by the police late in the evening by the intervention of some political workers belonging to National Conference youth wing when they were approached by the PHE department employees including Assistant Engineer Ishfaq Chowdhary. They influenced Sub Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Mendhar and all of them mounted pressure on SHO Mendhar to release the seized vehicle of PHE Deptt loaded with GCI Pipes from different quarters, sources added. Sources in police department confirmed that the seized vehicle was released without lodging an FIR against it. It was said that AE Ishfaq admitted that the vehicles was scheduled to be unloaded at village Behra but the failed to show relevant documents barring some hand-written indents which were not valid added the sources. As the issue has became talk of the town, sources said that people of the area have appealed SSP Poonch, JS Johar to take the cognizance of matter as how a seized vehicle could be released without any investigation from a Police Station. They also in an appeal to District Development Commissioner Poonch, MH Malik urged as how come it is possible that a seized vehicle loaded with GCI pipes of PHE department was released without lodging FIR from Police Station Mendhar when no relevant documents of the material were found in the possession of the driver, the sources further added. While SDPO Mendhar’s phone was off, the other senior police officer of the district told Early Times that documents produced before the SHO Mendhar at Police Station were found relevant and on that basis the vehicle was allowed to be released. More so, directions have been passed to all SHOs of the district that no vehicle should be brought to police station for verification of documents he further maintained. |
