Governor’s rule in JK: Part of Centre's strategic game plan? | | | Early Times Report jammu, Jan 20: Modi Government is looking for a longer tenure of the Governor's rule in the Jammu and Kashmir for some specific reasons. The Central Government is trying to send a political and administrative message. The sources said that Modi Government is looking for longer duration of the Governor's rule to out maneuver the seemingly political upmanship being used by the PDP. "The imposition of Governor's rule is because of the PDP and if it continues for too long the people will hold PDP responsible for it and not the BJP. It will showcase us (BJP) as a victim and will not do any good to the PDP," said a BJP functionary. According to the sources it is for this reason that the Governor Vohra is taking the administrative functioning very seriously and also that some loopholes in the earlier Government are being picked up. "A deliberate leak in the media suggesting that Centre is more than forthcoming, but State Government was not responding is part of the strategy," said the sources. The Centre also has plan in place that if the Governor’s rule continues for some more time that it will be used to bring in change in administrative apparatus which could be seen as more pro-people and very harsh on corruption. A first sign of it came out when in the very first meeting the Governor had directed senior officers to go after corrupt officers and take strict action. Sources said that it's part of the plan of the Modi Government. "If the people start feeling positive change in the governance than the credit will automatically go to Modi and this will be major advantage. Modi had always said that he wants to bring in development and fulfill the aspirations of the people of the State and this he can do more so when the Governor's rule is in place and this is major advantage for him," said sources. |
