Even after 5 yrs of man's death, family yet to get relief cheque 1/20/2016 11:51:08 PM Ashwani Sharma Early Times Report Udhampur, Jan 20: District administration has failed to compensate the Next of a Kin (NoK) of a victim who died in a road accident five years ago. The victim's son Mushtaq Ahmed of Batote while talking to Early Times said: "My father Wali Mohammad son of Nandu Naik died in road accident near Chenani five years ago. He had sustained critical injuries and he was rushed to GMC Jammu for treatment on 15-03-2011 and was admitted under surgical unit-11 ,MRD NO. 578863 MLC NO. 8889. He died in the hospital on 23-03-2011, eight days after the accident." He said, "After four months of the accident Transport Commissioner issued a cheque no. 016012 , for Rs 10,000 in his favour as compensation. We went to the office of Tehsildar and informed him that our father had died in the accident so please include his name in the list of dead persons and give us the compensation which has been provided to other victims." "The officials told us that first they have to confirm whether our father has died or not then only they can give us the compensation. They took Rs 10,000 cheque back and preserved it with the file," Ahmed said. He claimed that till date he has not received single penny as compensation from the administration and he has been running from pillar to post for the past five years. When contacted naib tehsildar Rafiq Ahmed said that we have already send the file to the concerned authorities, "But we have not got any response from them till date. As soon as we get the response we will compensate the NoK of the victim." Pertinently, a passenger vehicle (No. JK-14A-7565) had met with an accident near Kussar Nallah on March 15, 2011 resulting in death of 13 persons, while 15 had suffered serious injuries and 27 others had sustained minor injuries.
