Early Times Report Jammu, Jan 20: 32 ISM dispensaries in Doda are running in violation of Indian Public Health Standards (IPHS) guidelines, since there is no proper infrastructure for these health centers. Moreover, out of 32 dispensaries three have own building. Sources informed Early Times that out of 32 ISM dispensaries, 27 were running in rented buildings and two on internal arrangement and have no proper accommodation. Moreover, other three Ayurvedic dispensaries have own government buildings but astoundingly these Dispensaries are also in same condition and violate norms of IPHS. According to the norms of IPHS, an Ayurvedic or Unani Dispensary should have four to five rooms with facilities of waiting room, one room for two- four beds, and a store and one room for clinic/ office and the facilities of toilet in each room ; But surprisingly, in Doda district most of the health centers have no facilities of potable water, electricity and others which are running in single rooms, have no sitting arrangement except a Chair for the doctor, an Almirah and a table. "Residential accommodation for staff is a distant dream but state government has failed to establish essential building infrastructure for patient in such health centers", sources alleged. When contacted, ADMO Doda Dr. Rakesh Shan accepted that 27 dispensaries in Doda district are running in rented buildings, while construction work of few dispensaries was in progress. He further said that all sanctioned posts of doctors and Pharmacist are filled, but nine Junior Pharmacist posts are lying vacant. However, Director Indian Systems of Medicine (ISM/AYUSH) Jammu and Kashmir Dr Abdul Kabir Dar didn't respond to repeated phone calls. |
