Pandits take serious exception to Farooq's statement, term it insensitive | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Jan 20: Kashmiri Pandits have taken serious exception to the statement of former Chief Minister and president National Conference, Dr Farooq Abdullah that no body will come with a begging bowel before the displaced Pandits for return. Taking serious exception to it All State Kashmiri Pandit Conference (ASKPC) termed it most insensitive statement of a person who has earlier held a position wherefrom constitutional guarantees could be available to all the citizens of the State. ``Dr Farooq Abdullah's statement is most condemnable and possibly depicts him having lost capabilities and qualifications of a good leader'', ASKPC said in a statement issued here, today. It said Dr Abdullah's statement is most condemnable and possibly depicts his having lost capabilities and qualifications of a good leader. Perhaps Dr Farooq Abdullah has forgotten that due to threat perception Kashmiri Pandits had to flee from Kashmir during the time he was head of the State. Fact remains that it was because of his failure and collapse of his Government that a situation was permitted when across the Valley from the top of the mosques Pandtis were warned to leave Kashmir and slogans were shouted asking Pandits to vacate the Valley. The ASKPC which held an emergency meeting here today under the leadership of its president advocate Ravinder Raina said not only the selective killings, demolishing of temples, abductions and other atrocities were faced by the KPs through the hands of militants and separatist forces in Valley. The statement said that entire KP community is displeased, saddled and feels constraint to feel Farooq Abdullah having lost his capability of sane vision. It was also unbecoming for the head of the State that he left the pathetic situation and plight of the State subjects unattended during turmoil and preferred to enjoy his luxurious in safe heaven. The ASKPC however made it clear that Dr Abdullah should not be under the illusion that the return of KPs is at his mercy. The renowned Bollywood star, Anupam Kher who has also released an album on the Holocaust of KPs on 26th Holocaust Day yesterday was also astonished by the statement of former Chief Minister of J&K. Kher in an interview to a National Channel said that he has not himself heard the statement and he does not know whether Dr Abdullah has actually stated this or not. But if he has really stated this then he should take an unconditional apology from the displaced Pandits as the statement has hurt the sentiments of entire community. Reacting over the statement KPC chief Kundan Kashmiri said that this was expected from Dr Abdullah as it was his Party which was responsible for sowing seeds of hatred in Kashmir right from 1931. Had NC not misled the people of Valley on accession of the State with India and called for plebiscite from 1953 to 1975, there would have been no crisis in Kashmir. He said not only Dr Abdullah but NC leadership always behaved irresponsibly towards the sensitive issue and they never worked for the return of the Pandits during the 12 year rule of father son duo. He said even Party during last six years of coalition with Congress sabotaged the PM's employment package and did not took interest in giving jobs to all 6000 displaced youth as was announced by the then PM Dr Manmohan Singh in Jammu during his visit in may 2008. This shows total callousness of NC leadership towards the displaced people. |
