1/20/2016 11:46:23 PM
Early Times Report
Rajouri, Jan 20: Following series of protests by the locals from Kotranka, Mandargala, Samote, Budhal etc, the Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Kotranka has directed the Border Road Task Force(BRTF) officials to start black topping work on Rajouri -Budhal road which is in bad shape since last many years.
The widening along Rajouri-Budhal -Reasi road was taken in hand by the Border Road Task Force (BRTF) in the year 2010 and as per guidelines the 60 kilometer road has to be double laned and black topped within three years. But due to some natural calamities including 2014 flash floods and long winter spell the work could not be completed in stipulated time frame and due to worst condition of the road from Rajouri to Budhal, the inhabitants of the area have been facing many difficulties.
Within blame game between locals and GREF authorities, the GREF authorities accuse the locals of Kotranka town for delay in the construction of 'road 'in Kotranka bazaar as many locals have encroached the road and are not cooperating.
Meanwhile Sukhpal Singh , SDM Kotranka said, "To avoid any further delay in the construction of "road' at Kotranka bazaar and black topping of road from Rajouri to Kotranka, inhabitants of Kotranka town, shopkeepers , officials of Power Development Department (PDD), Public Health Engineering (PHE) department have been asked to remove encroachments ( dismantle at their own illegal construction of buildings and establishments falling under alignment of road), remove electric poles and shift water controlling systems to other places.".
He added Station House Officer (SHO) has been directed to temporarily shift the bus stand to some other place and also to organize a meeting of the shopkeepers with the help of Ch Sahfi, president Beopar Mandal to ensure that all encroachments be removed soon.
Meantime BRTF officials have been asked to expedite the construction work of road at Kotranka bazaar, he said, adding that the BRTF officials have already dispatched automatic machines to Kotranka to expedite the work.
The work to make about 60 kilometer road double lane was started in the year 2010 and all the widening, cutting and construction of retain walls have been completed while the work for leveling, carpeting, black topping etc have also been allotted to the contractors.
In Kotranka bazaar despite several notices by the BRTF some shopkeepers have encroached road and some even have constructed buildings.
"After directions from SDM we will organize meetings with these during next few days so that they can be motivated for the removal of encroachments at their own. Otherwise the law will take its course against such encroaches" said Ch Shafi president Beopar Mandal Kotranka
