Jammu colder than Srinagar today

Srinagar, Jan 20: Jammu was colder than Srinagar by 2.1 notches today with bright sun shine in summer capital leading to rise in temperature and overcast conditions in winter capital of the State leading drop in temperature.
The weatherman has said that Jammu would be colder than Srinagar with maximum and minimum temperatures in Jammu to settle between 10 degree Celsius and 6 degree Celsius and in Srinagar between 13 degree Celsius and minus 4 degree Celsius. The Meteorological Department has forecast clear sky for Srinagar and foggy weather for Jammu for next 48 hours.
Jammu recorded maximum temperature of 9.3 degree Celsius nine notches below the normal which is 18 degree Celsius for the city during this time of the year. The minimum temperature of the city was recorded at 5.6 degree Celsius while the normal minimum temperature for the city is 7 degree Celsius.
Srinagar recorded maximum temperature of 11.6 degree Celsius today which is five notches above normal that is 6 degree Celsius during this time of the year. The minimum temperature was recorded at minus 4.4 degree Celsius which is two notches below normal.
Although mornings, evenings and nights are cold in Srinagar these days but the days are pleasant due to bright sun shine. Yesterday the maximum day temperature in Srinagar was recorded at 13.3 degree Celsius, the hottest during this winter so far while Jammu recorded maximum day temperature of 13. 6 degree Celsius.
However due to the clear sky, the nights in Kashmir valley are very cold with temperatures dipping several notches below normal.
Temperature at Leh went down by over five notches to minus 16.4 degrees Celsius from minus 11.1 degrees Celsius the previous night. The day temperature, however, was recorded at minus 1.3 degree Celsius. The minimum temperature in the nearby Kargil town also decreased nearly four notches to record a low of minus 15.0 degrees Celsius against the previous night's low of minus 11.4 degrees Celsius. The day temperature, however, settled at 1.4 degree Celsius.
