Jammu, Jan 20: Dr. Vivek Kr. Singh, an Assistant Professor at School of Physics, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University, has been awarded the prestigious Raman Post-doctoral Fellowship in USA for the year 2015-16 by the University Grants Commission (UGC), Government of India. The fellowship, which will be of 12 months duration, will be hosted at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (LBNL) operated by the Regents of the University of California for the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE). The Laser Technologies Group at LBNL is a world-recognized group in laser-ablation chemical analysis. Dr. Singh's current research is focused on "Use and advancement of laser induced breakdown spectroscopy (LIBS) in chemical analysis and chemical imaging applications particularly in the area of Renewable Energy". His research interest includes, laser ablation based chemical analysis, experimental and theoretical spectroscopic studies of biological specimens, nanomaterials, plants, organic molecules etc. Dr. Singh's credits include more than 50 publications in national and international journals of repute, several book chapters, and invited lectures etc. This fellowship will provide an opportunity to have international collaborative research opportunity, training in advanced techniques and technologies in renewable energy and forge long-term relationship with distinguished experts in this field in USA. |
