Shopkeeper’s association refutes JDA claims, refuses to vacate | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Jan 20: Reacting over claims by Jammu Development Authority that all the shopkeepers presently located in General Bus Stand premises have been taken into confidence and are ready to get relocated in view of construction on multi-tier parking, Shopkeepers Association General Bus Stand (A) they have never been approached by the JDA for the purpose. According to a press release issued, Association president Madhu Sharma said that dislocation of the traders on the A block is not acceptable. "We are doing business here for last 45 years and dislocating us will affect our business badly. Moreover, we belong to the group of shopkeepers who were already rehabilitated at present place 45 years ago from Parade." He also said since the stretch where these shops are located does not come under the proposed construction area, there is no use dislocating them. He added only 6-7 years ago we have spent huge money on repair and maintenance of our shops, dislocating us at this time will shatter our economy a lot. The association demanded that shops and establishments set up in the premises (A) since 1971 should not be dislocated from there and be allowed to do their businesses there only. |
