NSUI holds protest over Hyderabad student's death | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Jan 20: National Student Union of India (NSUI) staged protest demonstration against the controversial death of Rohith Vemula, a second-year research scholar from Hyderabad University on last Sunday. Numbers of students under the banner of NSUI assembled outside the Jammu University and raised slogans against Union HRD Minister Simriti Irani for abetting a 'Dalit' student to commit suicide. Protesters addressed by president of State unit NSUI, Neeraj Kundan said that a Dalit Ph. D student Rohit Vemula of Hyderabad University who wanted to be a writer was driven to commit suicide due to anti dalit and intolerance of dissent shown by Union HRD Ministry under whose instructions the Institution had acted against human dignity and knowledge. He also criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi for not speaking up against various incidents of intolerance and inhuman acts committed by BJP and its sister organizations at different places of the Country. They all in a voice, demanded probe of the incident and strict actions against the main accused who had abetted student to commit suicide. Abhisheikh Dogra, Rohit Atri, Nasir Hussain and Chetan Kundal were the prominent who spoke on the occasion. |
