Locals protest against Municipal Committee 2/29/2016 10:45:00 PM Early Times Report Udhampur, Feb 29: A large number of locals today staged protest against Udhampur Municipal Committee (UMC) in Udhampur city alleging it has failed to perform its duties as most of the drains are without grill cover posing threat to the pedestrians especially during late night hours. Protesters alleged that Udhampur Municipal Committee (UMC) has failed to get the drains covered either with the grill or cemented tiles and most of drains in city have become risky affair for the people especially whenever there is a power curtailment. Citing example of a lane in W- 13 opposite Girls Middle School, protestors said that four drains in the locality are without cover making residents of areas prone to accident. They said that open drains in every part of the city not only are posing danger to the pedestrians and riders but also are posing health hazards.
