Budget further shakes BJP-PDP alliance | Nothing for JK | |
Early Times Report Jammu, Feb 29: The PDP is unhappy with the Union budget as it didn't announce any financial package for the State, which it was hoping. The party feels that it is just another reflection of the BJP's 'insensitive' approach towards the sensitivities of the PDP. The third Union budget of the BJP Government didn't have any specific measures for the J&K. The PDP was hoping that BJP would announce special package for the flood hit people of the Kashmir and some more institutions to the valley. The party was hoping these possible announcements, which eventually didn't happen, could have helped it showcase them as their own 'victory' in convincing the BJP to address the concerns of the people of the Kashmir, which is core constituency. "The BJP is probably even now understanding the ground realities. It is still believing that it can run the coalition on its own terms without understanding that things are not the same in the Kashmir, which is already on the boil more so after the JNU incident," said a senior PDP leader The PDP is likely to hold the meeting to discuss the issue arising after the announcement of the Budget and also decide on if there is any possibility of continuing with the alliance. "Unless the BJP decides to announce some Kashmir specific announcements the possibility of the continuing with the alliance will get more remote. We have a constituency to address and things will be more complex rather unsuitable for us in the present condition," said the leader. The PDP has also communicated some of its reservations to the senior BJP leader and the party may submit a list of proposals before the Union Finance Minister soon. "If the Union Finance Minister agrees to incorporate the proposals in the list then things can move forward otherwise we will have to explore options," said the senior PDP leader |
