Early Times Report
srinagar, Feb 29: After transferring over two dozen senior IAS and State Civil Service Officers of the administration last week, the Governor N.N Vohra is likely to go for an overhaul in the middle- rung bureaucracy.
Official sources said that the Governor has sought a list of HOD's along with their tenure from the General Administration Department. "The State Advisory Council (SAC) headed by Governor N. N. Vohra wants to make the State administration transparent and accountable at middle level also and is likely to go for a reshuffle in this regard," one of the top Government officials insisting not to be named said.
Sources said that on the directions of the Governor, General Administration Department is also compiling a list of honest and upright officers who would be posted in the important postings.
It is to mention here that the last week's administrative shake-up was the first by Vohra since he took over the reins of governance in the State following imposition of Governor's rule on January 8, a day after Chief Minister Mufti Muhammad Sayeed passed away.
Sources in the Raj Bhawan said that the Governor wants the radical changes in the functioning of the State's overall administration "Transparency in the Government is the top priority of the Governor. He (Governor) wants to ensure that the common masses have accessible, transparent, accountable Government," one of the officials of the Raj Bhawan said.
Sources said that the list of officials who would be transferred will be forwarded to the Governor N.N Vohra soon.
Sources said that Governor wants to place the right men at right places. "The idea behind the reshuffle is to make the middle- rung administration more efficient and responsive to the people so that concrete steps would be taken towards the development,".
Sources said that there were complaints against several officials at the lower level and the Governor has directed all the Administrative Secretaries to provide transparent, effective and accountable governance to the people.
