Upgraded rural schools still lack infrastructure, staff 2/29/2016 11:48:43 PM Bijay Charak Early Times Report Jammu, Feb 29: The Rural schools of Bhaderwah which has been suffering for staff, infrastructure, road connectivity besides other requirements are deliberately being ignored by BJP Legislators who are interested to develop urban school as model school which are already in good health. Government High School Thanala is the live example, which has three rooms accommodation for more than 300 students. The village Thanala is situated 22 kilometer away from Bhaderwah City. High School Thanala is the lone school for more than 800 households of Thanala and their adjoining areas. Mohmmad Yaqoof, a resident of Thanala said that the enrollment of the school is good due to which previous government had upgraded this school as High School and had sanctioned two building blocks one is single story and other is double story. The construction work of these buildings is executed by Public Works Department but two years on, the construction work was stopped. At present the school is running with one building block having five rooms including three for classrooms, one for staff and one for store. The available classrooms here are not established as per the norms of Jammu and Kashmir State Board of School Education. "Due to non availability of sufficient teachers in the school, the studies of students were affected due to which the results are always poor", he said, adding that students of rural schools are bereft of facilities like sports, Laboratory, Library facilities. On being asked by locals why the construction work of these building was stopped, Officials rue shortage of funds. There is strong resentment among the locals that legislators have chosen urban schools which already have sufficient facilities to be converted into model schools while those which actually need extra attention have been totally ignored.
