J&K still continuing with practice that 'breeds' corruption | Doing away with process of interviews for Non -gazetted posts | | Early Times Report Jammu, Feb 29: In J&K things happen in contrast to decisions taken for the entire nation by the Centre almost in all matters. Notwithstanding a major announcement by the NDA government to do away with the process of holding interviews for non gazetted and junior level posts from this year, the government in J&K as always has ignored this and is continuing with this system much to annoyance of youth of the state. Sources said all the departments in the state are carrying on with the practice of holding interviews apart from written tests for various posts, no matter many of these are of very junior level. The instructions and fresh guidelines from the Centre are being deliberately and purportedly ignored in J&K sources said, adding that this system which is in place for many decades allows both politicians in general and corridors in power in particular to indulge in bias and nepotism in making appointments of the candidates who do not otherwise deserve this on account of many reasons. There are many posts in various government departments which are advertised just for the sake of formality and the concerned ministries conduct the written tests again as a matter of formality. Many candidates who eventually make it to posts are not even eligible by any account, neither requisite qualifications nor any merit secured in the written tests, sources said, adding that they manage entry only through the route of interviews where undue weightage is given to them in terms of marks only because such candidates hold the tag of 'influence' at higher level. It is for malafide intentions that authorities at the helm in J&K have overlooked this directive from the Centre and unheeded it completely. The political bosses too have disregarded this order announced and implemented by the Centre because it suits them to carry on with the system of deep rooted nepotism in making recruitments, sources said. However, the youth in the state seeking a fair and transparent system in the appointments are disappointed for the fact that this order of far reaching consequences for the deserving candidates has been ignored in J&K. They appreciate the initiative by the Centre as a revolutionary step because they feel interviews have been a major source of corruption and unrest among the educated youth. Pertinently, it was none other than the Prime Minister Narendra Modi who announced this measure as a part of efforts to put an end to the menace of corruption in jobs and in line with this initiative, all the departments and ministries were asked not to conduct interviews for recruitment of non gazetted posts. With Governor's rule in place at present, will this be implemented in the state to do justice with the deserving and eligible aspirants ..? |
