Early Times Report
Srinagar, Feb 29: The patients at Valley's sole trauma hospital-the Bone and Joint Barzullah, is facing a tough time on Sunday's as a few doctors visit the hospital on Sunday.
Amina mother of one of the patients who brought her daughter in this hospital for treatment said that on Saturday her daughter was admitted in Bone and joint hospital after her left arm was broken. "I brought my daughter here on Saturday and immediately the doctors admitted her. But on Sunday morning my daughter complained acute pain and when I went to call the doctor I was shocked to know that none of the doctors were to see the patients in wards on Sunday," he said.
Further elaborating she said, "Somehow I managed to locate the few staff members in the hospital and when I told them that my daughter is screaming for medical aid, they informed me that the doctors would arrive only on Monday morning," she said and added that she was left with no option except to take her daughter to private hospital for immediate treatment.
The insiders admitted that the Patients, especially poor ones coming from far-flung areas of the valley had to suffer a lot of trouble on Sunday's as the medical fraternity are not available in the hospital.
Another patient who was admitted in the hospital said that he was not able to sit, lie down, cough or even properly breathe because of an acute pain in the right side of his back, but unfortunately no specialist doctor was available in the hospital on Sunday.
When this reporter visited the emergency ward in the hospital on Sunday he also found that there were many patients moving about in the hospital in pain and confusion, but there was no one to help them.
Meanwhile the officials revealed that Patients admitted in the most of the valley hospitals on the weekends receive poor medical treatment, as reduced staff levels cause delay in tests and other treatment."It is time for health care to "restructure the hospital work week" and make Saturday and Sunday just as safe for patients as any week day."
