'Revenue officials' show 75 kanal land as 9.5 kanal | Poor family sits on hunger strike | |  MS Nazki
Mendhar, Feb 29: Over 75 kanals of lands belonging to a person of Ari village in this tehsil has been shown only 9.5 kanals after demarcation as the rest of the land has been virtually grabbed allegedly by the Revenue Officials compelling the poor villager to go on hunger strike along with his family to protest the act, sources said here today. Satpal Bhushan son of Joginder, of Ari in Mendhar tehsil has been compelled to sit on a dharna along with his family as his land has been shown only 9.5 kanals instead he owns 75.8 kanals as per revenue records, sources said. The documents of Revenue Department clearly indicate that the said person has 75.8 kanals land on his name vide khasra Nos 675, 677, 688 and 727 in Ari village but Revenue officials allegedly were hand in glove with some influentials of the same village to grab the poor man's land sources said adding the poor man has been making rounds of the offices of Revenue Deptt. and concerned Patwari but no one listens to his woes hence thought it convenient to sit on dharna along with his family to protest against the unholy act of revenue officials who were hell bunt to grab the land and get the justice. The demarcations of the land was conducted by Tehsildar Mendhar Salamdin along with his Naib Aftab Hussain and other concerned staff of the Revenue Depatment. Meanwhile taking cognizance of the matter, Distrcit Development Commissioner Poonch Haroon Malik has directed Sub Divisional Police Officer Poonch Shahid Naeem to take the stock of the situation and pacify the family to lift the dharna who later on assured the family that their case will be looked into and if there was any foul play found action will be initiated under law. The sources said till late evening unless the family lifted the dharna no one from Revenue department reached the Shaheed Yadgar Chowk Mendhar to meet the family. When contacted Tehsildar Mendhar in this regard said it is DDC who has to take action we have nothing to do in this case, he maintained. |
