Early Times Report

Anantnag, Feb 29: Despite Jammu and Kashmir High Court directions, education department in Kashmir has failed to terminate a female appointee who was allegedly appointed on fake documents under Prime Minister's Reconstruction Plan.
Highly placed sources told Early Times that female teacher Shana Kumari (name changed) was appointed on 24th of November in 2010 ( Vide Order No. 806/EDU/2010) and was posted at Government Girls High School Khanabal.
However, in year 2011 education department found that appointee has managed to obtain the job on the basis of fake degree. "Particulars including degree and date of birth certificate which she submitted at the time of appointment were found fake by the authorities," sources in education department said.
Sources said that appointee had submitted certificate of MEd degree at the appointment but after proper verification certificate was found fake.
Similarly appointee declared her date of birth as 1/1/1973 through a certificate but the actual date of birth of the candidate is 1/1/1963.
They revealed that then Chief Education Officer Anantnag had submitted a detailed report to Director School Education and later Director Education submitted his report to Secretary Education department; however no action was taken against the appointee.
They claimed that a senior babu was shielding the appointee, who himself had terminated many such appointees in past. Chief Education Officer Anantnag, Ghulam Rasool Shah when contacted admitted to have submitted a report regarding the issue. "Right now I don't know what happened to this case but it was me who inquired this case and submitted a report to Director School Education," he said.
Asked whether the appointee is still withdrawing her salaries and attending duties, he expressed ignorance.
Repeated attempts failed to contact Director School Education for a comment.
Pertinently, on May 16th last year, Jammu and Kashmir High Court today directed the Government to constitute a committee to look into the fake certificates on which teachers have been appointed in the Education Department and issue their termination orders.
