HC impleads 8 more administrative secretaries as respondents | PIL on delay in 147 departmental inquiries | | Early Times Report Jammu, Feb 29: In a PIL on delay in 147 departmental inquiries, a high court division bench of Chief Justice N Paul Vasanthakumar and Justice Bansi Lal Bhat today impleaded eight more Administrative Secretaries as respondents and issued them notices which were accepted by senior AAG. After hearing the counsels for the petitioners, the bench allowed the fresh miscellaneous petition filed by the petitioners seeking impleadment of secretaries of eight more departments -- Home, Tourism, Animal/Sheep Husbandry, J&K Special Tribunal, Rural Development Department, Health and Medical Education, Cooperatives and Forest Department. The bench directed the eight administrative secretaries to file the updated status of the pending departmental inquiries within two weeks. It is worthwhile to mention here that a high court bench on February 10, 2016 had expressed its displeasure over the slackness on the part of various departments in sitting over 147 departmental inquiries and had arrayed 13 Administrative Secretaries as party respondents in the PIL with a further direction to them to file the status of the inquiries before February 24, 2016 or in default appear in person. Pursuant to the directions of the bench, all the 13 administrative secretaries had already filed the status of the pending departmental inquiries and the bench today impleaded eight more administrative secretaries as party respondents and directed them to file updated status of inquiries within two weeks.
