Training on vermin-compost commences | | | Early Times Report
Samba, Feb 29: A Four day training workshop entitled "Training of resource teachers on open ended experiment of life sciences by using Vermi-compost as base" (vermiculture and vermicomposting) and there by the effective integrated waste management commenced today. The Program is being organized by National Council for Urban and Rural Development Society (NCURDS) Jammu and is supported and catalyzed by National Council for Science and Technology Communication, Department of Science and Technology, Govt. of India, Delhi. The inaugural function of the four day training program was presided over by Pallavi Sambyal, Chairman, Pace Computers. Earlier in the introductory address Kuldeep Gupta (Programme Coordinator) said that today there is the dire need of the effective waste management and Vermi-culture and hence vermicomposting is best viable technique in this regard. Dr. Ashiq Hussain, Professor Govt. Degree College, Kishtwar after giving brief idea of the workshop said that keeping in view the wide scope of vermicomposting in the area NCURDS took the challenge and ultimately succeeded in arranging the training program for the Teachers of the Jammu Division. Later Zaffar Ullah Khan Founder Secretary General - NCURDS in his address added that the conventional composting takes weeks to months to convert your organic matter into waste and is very low labour intensive, however using worms (vermicomposting) one can convert approximately 6-8 pounds of organics per day into vermicompost. |
