NMC demands continuation of Governor's rule | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Feb 29: President of the National Mazdoor Conference (NMC) Subash Shastri today appealed to the Prime Minister not to be in any haste in re-formation of new government in Jammu & Kashmir in view of prevailing situation in the state. Addressing a well attended NMC meet here, Shastri said that in the democratic set up, though popular government is more necessary, but present situation demands to continue the governor rule adding that that as the Governor NN Vohra has been doing commendable job to solve long pending demands of common masses. Shastri urged Modi to assess the situation before taking any decision in this regard. "If the referendum is exercised 90% population of the state will vote of governor rule as present governor administration has been mitigating the problems of people particularly salaried class swiftly", he said. Shastri pointed out that Vohra has taken bold decisions in solving decades old pending issues, the one of them is regularization of 3660 daily rated workers working in various departments of the state government fall under SRO 64 be remembered for long time by the masses. Shastri hoped that the governor would take decision on the regularization of sixty one thousand daily rated workers who have been engaged prior to March 1994 but has not been regularize so far.
