The sale of substandard and adulterated food in the city is quite high and the condition is the worst in Samba city along Jammu Pathankot national highway where checks are seldom conducted and shuttling passengers are forced to consumer poor-quality products. Some locals alleged that adulteration in food stuff is worst along highway as the vendors knew the visitors are moving in a bus and they can't complaint the vendor after the buss moves on. "Some sweet shops in main city and along national highway use poor quality raw material just to make easy money, they alleged. Locals also alleged that huge publicity was given to the anti adulteration drive launched by the concerned department, later the officials often sit in their cozy rooms without bothering to the ill results of the menace. "Several sweet shop owners while violating the LPG norms use domestic gas cylinders openly instead of using commercial LPG but this also is ignored by the authorities reasons better known to officials at the helms," said Ravi Khajuria a local resident . Some sweet shop Owners (Halwais) sell readymade sweets brought from outside the state but the quality of these sweets seems very poor. Humming similar tones, Pardeep Sambyal, another local, demanded from the District Administration to take strict action against the erring vendors. |
