Early Times Report
Kishtwar, Mar 12: Director School Education Jammu ordering transfer of 240 teachers in this frontier district has come under scanner as the three member committee, constituted to look into the alleged discrepancies in the transfer list, has found that 84 masters have been transferred in violation of the transfer policy, sources told Early Times on Wednesday. The transfer of 240 teachers in Kishtwar district had triggered a furore following which the Deputy Commissioner formed a 3-member panel headed by Additional Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar to look into the reported discrepancies in the transfer list. The teachers had alleged that majority of these transfers were made in violation of the rules and regulations as well as in violation of the government transfer policy wherein influential masters were posted at convenient places while those having no political or other backing were sent to far flung areas. As per the details available with "Early Times", the teaching community showed surprise over the way Director School Education Jammu transferred master grade teachers to accommodate the blue-eyed boys. "The list clearly indicates favoritism and nepotism is running deep into the list that clearly suggests that transfer industry is thriving in the Education department as all the rules and regulations set by the government were thrown to winds," said an official. While scrutinizing the transfer list, one Ashok Kumar who was posted at Higher Secondary School Nagsini for past nearly 15 years has been transfer to another remote and far flung school namely Upper Primary School Dramwagan situated in Thakrie area of Kishtwar district. In another case one Joginder Kumar posted at Government Middle School Draba has been transferred to Middle School Mulchetar. He has never got an opportunity in past 20 years to serve in their home locality or in a school near to home, Shameem Ajaiz who was transfer from Dadpath to Mughal Maidan, Arshad Hussain from HSS Nagsini to Kungwari are the another examples of these teachers were never get an opportunity to serve in their home towns. Another master grade Tariq Hussain Butt who has been eagerly waiting for home posting since past 20 years had also been ignored as his name did not figure in the transfer list. While talking to "Early Times" President Masters and Teachers Association Kishtwar Mehboob Qazi agreed that many masters were denied genuine posting. "The association will take up the matter with the higher authorities for favorable consideration. The association fully backs the claims of all those teachers and masters who were denied proper posting since last several years," he said. He said that it is a matter of great concern that heads of some unions in education department have managed their proper postings leaving others in lurch. |
