Disappointed with JUs local VCs, Guv opts for non-locals 3/16/2016 11:50:42 PM Early Times Report Jammu, Mar 16: Just a few months after a non-local man was appointed as the Vice-Chancellor of Baba Ghulam Shah University Rajouri, the Governor's administration has appointed another non-local man as Vice-Chancellor of prestigious Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU), Katra. According to official sources following the dismal performance of a local Vice-Chancellor at Jammu University, the Governor N N Vohra, opted for a non-local Vice-Chancellor at BGSBU. Pertinently, the Dean Faculty of Agricultural Sciences in the Aligarh Muslim University, Prof Javed Musarrat, was appointed as the new Vice Chancellor of the Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University in Rajouri district in October 2015 and it was followed by appointing Prof Sanjeev Jain, presently Director Madhav Institute of Technology and Science, Gwalior (MP), as the new Vice-Chancellor of the prestigious Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU), Katra. Officially the Prof Jain was selected from a panel recommended by a Search Committee headed by Dr R Chidambaram, Principal Scientific Advisor to the Government of India with Prof M C Misra, Director, All India Institute of Medical Sciences; Prof D P Agrawal, Former Chairman, Union Public Service Commission; and Dr S S Bloeria, Former Vice Chancellor, Central University of Jammu as its members. Intellectuals and thinkers have seen a silver lining in the clouds and believe that Governor has done a right thing by appointing non-local Vice Chancellors perhaps he seems to be disappointed with the dismal performance of a local Vice Chancellor handling Jammu university. Insiders revealed that Governor had very high expectations from the local Vice Chancellor but later he decided to opt for non-local Vice Chancellors. One of the Professors of Jammu University who was also among the candidates for VC post in SMVDU, said, "The poor performance of Vice Chancellor of a university in Jammu region has perhaps shaken the faith of Governor on local professors hence he preferred non-local candidates."   Share This News with Your Friends on Social Network     Comment on this Story
