DIG clips wings of 2 SSPs
Duo asked not to transfer SHOs, PP heads

Early Times Report
jammu, Mar 16: A DIG, who has attained notoriety in police circles for his alleged role in big land deals here, is said to have clipped the wings of two SSPs heading districts in his range and made it clear to them that they won't order transfers and postings of SHOs and police post (PP) heads without his approval.
He was recently transferred from a police wing and posted in the range as DIG. Though his name has figured in big land deals here, he managed his posting in the range with the help of his 'close' associates, according to police sources.
Sources said soon after taking over as the range DIG, he asked the SSPs of the two districts in his range not to order transfers and postings of SHOs, PP heads and Munshis without his approval.
One of the SSPs prepared a list of SHOs a few days back for their transfers and new postings, but the DIG raised objections to the names of some of them and ordered to put it on hold even as some police stations in the district were headless, the sources added.
Sources said the DIG was doing all this exercise to adjust his own men as heads of police stations and police posts. Even the SHOs, who were transferred before he took over as DIG, were not being relieved, sources claimed.
Just to bring them under pressure, the DIG was also finding faults with the working of the two district SSPs, sources said.
Sources said he had also started the exercise of bringing closer to him those who were at present heading police stations and PPs to tighten his grip in the two districts.
