Officials using fake degrees to seek promotion in Forest Deptt 3/17/2016 12:10:51 AM Avinash Azad ET Report jammu, Mar 16: Several officials in the Forest Department have been granted promotion on the basis of fake degrees and the higher officers have reportedly feigned ignorance to the irregularity. Alarmingly, few officials appointed in class IV, have been elevated to post of Rangers and DFOs in the department. Sources in department told Early Times that fake degree holder employees were being entertained for past several years for their promotions. "Numerous employees having their first appointment as class IV employees were now serving as Foresters, Rangers as well as DFO's being hand in glove with some high officials working in the department", sources said. They further said that these employees after serving for some years in the department managed some fake degrees from unauthorized universities. "On the basis of these degrees employees are being promoted by the department", they added. Sources said that Government's orders regarding promotion are also being overlooked. "Directions of J&K High court of dated June 17, 2012 and Cabinet decision No.104/14/2012 dated16-05-2012 which gave sanction for the approval to the recommendations made by the committee constituted, vide Government order No. 442-GAD of 2011 dated 13-04-2011 read with Government order No. 558-GAD of 2011 dated: 13 -05-2011, are being overlooked by the department", they added. They further said that despite various RTIs filed by deprived officials in Forest Department for their rights , some senior officers had assumed criminal silence despite knowing the facts. Sources said that in genuine cases, the authorities also violated SRO 335, as there are some employees working on the posts of helpers for several years despite being well educated, having M.A., B.Ed degrees, but didn't get any benefit in promotions. They requested the Governor to order a high level probe to verify degrees of officials' and officers in Forest Department. "The degree certificates of guards Foresters, Rangers working in the Forest department should be properly scrutinized and verified from universities as same process has exposed fake degree nexus in promotions in Education Department", they added.   Share This News with Your Friends on Social Network     Comment on this Story
