Early Times Report
RAJOURI, June 9: For violation of Deputy Commissioner's order, Rajouri police have booked unidentified persons from village Bagla and other areas for blocking Jammu-Poonch highway on Tuesday for more than two hours.
Pertinently, in order to avoid inconvenience to the movements of army convoy as well as to the commuters travelling on Jammu-Poonch highway, few months back Deputy Commissioner, Rajouri under section 144 CrPC had banned protest demonstrations on Jammu-Poonch highway in Rajouri district.
The Jammu-Poonch highway was blocked by people after a protest erupted to express their resentment against a doctor and in-charge Police Post SMGS hospital, Jammu as a minor girl from village Bagla had died due to alleged negligence of doctor while under treatment on Monday.
Protesters and family members alleged that girl namely Rakia Begam daughter of Zakir Hussain was referred to SMGS by the doctors at district hospital Rajouri for specialized treatment after a complaint of fever and other complications.
The girl was admitted on Sunday evening at SMGS and during treatment she died in the morning hours on Monday.
Brother and other family members of the deceased said that the girl died due to negligence of doctor and to hide his negligence he asked the police post in-charge that the girl had died due to some poisonous substance consumed by her.
Police kept the body in the mortuary room despite several request by the family members that she had died due to doctor's negligence.
On Tuesday lady doctor deputed refused to conduct postmortem after reading the deceased's treatment' discharge reports as the girl had died due to brain hemorrhage. Family members, villagers led by Sarpanch Khalil Ahmed held protest demonstration at village Chatiyar on Jammu-Poonch highway demanding inquiry and action against the doctor and in-charge Police Post SGMS hospital for harassment to the family members and deliberately causing delay in handing over the body to the family members.
Protesters blocked the Jammu-Poonch highway for more than 2 hours and later opened the highway after an assurance by SHO, Rajouri police station that they are in contact with Jammu police to investigate the matter.
Police sources said that they have booked the protesters in case FIR No343/16 under sections 188, 341 and 147 RPC and those who led the protest will be identified through video footings.
