"Some days back the MLA Chhamb told me his name figures in the list of the BPL people of the area. We have verified the same and it has been found to be true. It has been incorporated that the legislator receives an annual income of Rs. 3,000. I have ordered the suspension of Tehsildar Khour and action under rules would be taken against him," said the Minister for Revenue.
Bukhari said that action under rules would also be taken against the committee members who have been entrusted with the responsibility of identifying the BPL beneficiaries in the area. The Minister said that Deputy Commissioner Jammu has been directed to enquire the negligence and prepare a report within seven days in this regard.
Minister for Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution (CA&PD) department, Chaudhary Zulfiqar Ali also joined the debate and said that action would be taken against the officers involved in the episode.
While both Bukhari and Zulfiqar were busy in giving their statements, independent legislator from Langate constituency Engineer Abdul Rashid intervened and said that his name also figures in the BPL list of the area. He said that he has already written to the Deputy Commissioner in this regard but so far no action has been taken.
Responding to the complaint the Minister for Revenue said that the complaint lodged by Engineer Rashid would be enquired into and if the same is found to be true then action under rules would be taken against the Tehsildar of the area. Congress legislator, Nuwang Rigzin Jora said that the BPL lists framed across the state are under scanner since large scale discrepancies have come up.

He said that the Government would ensure that only deserving people are in the lists. He added that these complaints will be treated as serious as PDS is directly connected to the poor people and Government will not tolerate any injustice with the poor.
