Separatists are people's representatives: MLA | | | Majid Nabi Early Times Report Srinagar, June 9: National Conference (NC) which is famous for changing colors like a chameleon while defending separatists agitation plans against establishment of separate Sainik and Pandit colonies in Kashmir termed them as people's representatives. Taking undue advantages of the prevailing situation in Kashmir, the opposition party claimed that separatist leaders did nothing wrong by opposing the government's proposed plans of constructing separate colonies for KPs' and retired soldiers. While MLA Habba Kadal constituency, Shameema Firdous attributed arrest of JKLF Chairman Mohammad Yasin Malik with frustration of the government, NC's looser candidate; Nasir Aslam Wani claimed that the government is taking lessons from Nagpur. "It is unfortunate that Yasin Malik who tried to unite separatist camp against establishment of separate Sainik and Pandit colonies in Kashmir was arrested; our constitution guarantees freedom of speech, government by caging separatist leaders gave vent to its frustration," Shameema was quoted by a Delhi-based news channel as having said. The NC leader's controversial statement came at the time when the government has already cleared air over the issue. |
