Jammu, Jun 9: With an objective of providing assistance to the farmers for setting up their subsidiary income units, Sericulture Development Department distributed 16,500 ounces of silkworm seed among 18,000 Sericulture farmers during spring rearing- 2016. The e-payment process has also been initiated by the department at cocoons auction market in Sunderbani for the benefit of farmers. A total of 40,000 kg dry cocoons have been transited at Sunderbani centre and the farmers earned an income of Rs. 3 lakh from the sale of cocoons. The highest bid for dry cocoons was Rs. 871 per kg and average price remains more than Rs. 700 per kg of dry Cocoons. |
