Jammu, June 9: Civil Society members and intellectuals of Jammu expressed serious concern over unscheduled and long power curtailment in the entire Jammu Province and blamed the PDP-BJP coalition for subjecting people especially to old and ill to worse kind of harassment during the ongoing scorching summer season. Talking to media Sanjay Gupta, noted social activist and Prof. B L Koul, renowned academician said that long duration black outs are giving sleepless nights to residents, who are forced to remain outdoors. "The power scenario is highly precarious, which has made life horrible as the region is reeling under unprecedented heat these days", they said and rued over low voltage whenever power is made available during the brief spells. Strongly flaying the callous and insensitive attitude of the Power Development Department, Sanjay Gupta said that the people of Jammu region are made to suffer the worst nightmares due to scorching heat and soaring humidity with no respite from the power cuts. The proponents of 'Ache Din' seem to have declared power holiday for Jammu region while taking time out to cool their heels in the Kashmir Valley, he added. |
