KATHUA, Mar 10: The District Level Cultural Programme on "Beti Bachao Beti Padhao" organized by Nehru Yuva Kendra (NYK) Sanghatan in Government Degree College (GDC) Kathua here today.
The programme witnessed the most colourful and spectacular performances by the students of GDC (Boys) Kathua, who enthralled the audience with their mesmerizing and outstanding live performances in various segments of the cultural line-up.
Though a large number of institutions from district Kathua participated in the event but the audience went awestruck with a melodious title "Dhwaja Rashtra Ki" presented by Suhasini Dubey of Govt. Degree College (Boys) Kathua in the solo song competition, which bagged her first prize and a loud applause by the enthralled audience.
In the group song event too, the participants from GDC, Kathua, Suhasini, Deepika, Shamli, Narinder and Rajit stole the show and cheers of the present viewers and made them sing to the tune of "Vandee Ma Taram" and the group was adjudged first in the group song competition..
The famous Marathi folk dance 'Lavani', performed by Anjali Sharma and Shatabdi Pattanaik again brought the audience to their feet, tapping to the powerful rhythm and beats of the dholki and the judges points to this dance performance placed the it on top of the group dance segment too.
Principal of the college, Dr B L Gupta congratulated the participants for their winning spree and bringing laurels to the institution.
