| University Professor posts video of girl student dancing in private party on Facebook | | Parents, Students leaders demand action | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Mar 10: Resentment is brewing amongst the University fraternity and parents of the students over the video of a girl student of University of Jammu, dancing on a popular Bollywood number which has been posted on social media.
More astounding than the video itself is the fact that the clip has been uploaded by a senior faculty of the department. Sources divulge that the video was recorded during a students' party in the department of Economics by none other than the head of the department professor Deepankar Sen Gupta, who later posted it on social media, offending several students and their parents.
"Students' party is a private party and a closed door affair, which is not for public consumption in any way" said a student leader of the University. "Making video of a girl student, that too by a senior faculty and then posting it on social media is a deplorable act and breach of privacy" he added.
"University authorities must take cognizance of this act of the senior professor" said a parent expressing anguish over the act. "Making a video clip of a girl without her knowledge is a serious offense in itself and then posting it on social media is obnoxious" he added. "A teacher of a noted institution in Jammu was recently dismissed from service merely for making a video of a girl student" he added further, demanding action against the professor.
It is pertinent to mention here that Prof. Sen Gupta has recently been active on Facebook with his postings against the Vice Chancellor and University Administration. |
