JK's five major departments continue to suffer, people fume | Tale of Two Ministers | | Peerzada Ummer Early Times Report srinagar, Mar 10: Days after Peoples Conference chairman Sajjad Lone expressed reluctance in taking charge of the "insignificant" Science and Technology and Animal Husbandry Ministry, PDP senior leader Imran Ansari is giving tough time to new dispensation with the two departments in the state suffering due to absence of heads. The employees of Science and Technology, Animal Husbandry, Information Technology (IT), Technical Education and Sports and Youth Services are in lighter vein talking all that they have become 'virtual orphans' since their respective ministers have abandoned them. Early Times has learnt that the work in five departments of the state of Jammu and Kashmir is getting affected every day after with their concerned ministers have so far downplayed the orders to join office. People who were waiting for the new government to take over in the state are also disgruntled, terming it unfortunate that the portfolios are now being discussed instead of getting the state out of the crises. "The state was in total chaos earlier. Now when the people have yearned for change, all the departments must properly function so that crises could end at an earliest and without further delay," says one of the official associated with the IT department. Popular Shia cleric and son of late Moulana Iftikhar Hussain Ansari has earlier expressed displeasure terming the portfolio accorded to him as "humiliating treatment" during the government formation. "Imran, who was inducted in the Mufti cabinet, he is not happy with the portfolios. We all are shocked and grieved over the treatment given to him during the formation of the new government in Jammu and Kashmir," one of the workers of Imran told Early Times. Imran got Information Technology (IT), Technical Education and Sports and Youth Services. "My workers are not happy with my portfolio. Our community came out to support PDP in all its strength only because they felt completely ignored by the previous governments and saw a ray of hope in this new dispensation. When Mufti sahib, Mehbooba ji and Baig sahib (Muzzafar Hussain Baig) came to Pattan, they promised to our community that we will be given due respect once the party forms the government," Imran said, adding that he is trying his level best to mitigate his supporters. Imran added that he is in politics because he has to look after the interests of people who have been completely ignored till now. 'My community is upset. They believe that I deserve more than what has been given to me," added the shia cleric. However, the PDP leader was quick to add that he has immense respect for Mufti Mohammad Sayeed. Guarded in his words, Imran said that he will not rebel against the party. "But my party has to understand that it isn't a serious concern for us - our family - alone, it is an issue for our party PDP as well." It was earlier, PC chairman Sajad Lone who refused to join office due to the portfolio accorded to him. Though Sajad didn't mention his reservations publically, sources said that he has intimated the BJP leadership that till some changes aren't done in his ministry, he will not join the office. Meanwhile, people concerned with the departments said they continue to suffer as they were earlier pinning hopes on new government to rectify the wrongs but to their surprises, problems seem to multiply every day after. |
