BJP unlikely to withdraw support to PDP | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Mar 10: The BJP is unlikely to withdraw support to the PDP despite the latter's seemingly anti-Indian decisions. The BJP president Amit Shah has reportedly told the state unit to pressurize Mufti Mohammad Sayeed against taking any such decision in the future. "Amit Shah has told deputy chief minister Dr Nirmal Singh that BJP must ensure that any decision which goes against the interests of the party should not be taken. The Dy CM was also reportedly told to push up the matters like delimitation and settlement of refugees at the earliest," said a senior BJP leader not wishing to be named. The release of Masarat Alam has come as a major embarrassment for the BJP to the extent that Prime minster had to make a statement against it in the Parliament. It was the second time in about nine-day that Parliament proceedings was disrupted on the statements and decisions of the Mufti Mohammad Sayeed. The BJP, sources said, has read into the in-between lines of these decision as Mufti wants to send a political message in the valley that his party has not cowed down before the BJP and will not do anything which could 'hurt' the sensitive and political aspirations of the people of the valley. "The important thing is Mufti has got into the fast track mode as far as his agenda is concerned. The BJP was believing that he will take some time. But, now the BJP will also put its core issues on the priority list and will force the PDP to act on it very soon," said a senior BJP leader. The BJP is of the view that Mufti will be consulted and cooperated on taking issues of the party and if these fails that then threats can also be issued. "Mufti Sayeed can't believe that he can harm the BJP. If we decide to pull out of the government than PDP will face much more serious political repercussions as party will find it very difficult to explain in valley why it decided to go with the BJP," said the leader. |
