Former legislators, bureaucrats continue to occupy official accommodation | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Mar 10: The former ministers, legislators and bureaucrats seem in no mood to vacate the official accommodation in the winter capital. Besides subjecting the deserving persons to inconvenience, the illegal occupation of official accommodation by the former VIPs is punching holes in the state exchequer. The irony is that the government takes no measures to get the occupied accommodation vacated. It has been learnt that the former legislators have retained the official vehicles in addition to the accommodation allotted to them. While the government must ensure their security, the officials accommodation and the government vehicles must be surrendered as soon as possible. According to reports, there have been instances when the so-called VIPS have misused the security and the official vehicles. Money has been extorted from gullible people against a promise of a government job. The government, therefore, must take appropriate measures to tame these VIPs. It has also been learnt that not just the legislators, the people who contested elections unsuccessfully have also retained the accommodation and in some cases the vehicles. This particular group has been found responsible for fooling the gullible public in the garb of providing government employment. The concerned quarters have sought immediate measures. |
