Early Times Report
Jammu, Mar 10: A senior doctor in Jammu has lodged a criminal complaint against the Health Minister Chaudary Lal Singh, while the Medical Faculty Association (MFA), in Srinagar has expressed dismay over the behavior of the health minister with the medicos at SMHS hospital.
The Registrar of the Department of the Psychiatry, Government Medical College Jammu Dr Gurpreet Kour lodged a complaint against minister after she was insulted in full public view during the inaugural function of the Psychiatric Hospital building on Monday. Dr Gurpreet's only fault was that she did not wear an apron thinking that it was a social function.
When contacted Gurpreet Kour admitted that she has lodged a complaint against minister for offending her dignity, adding that a senior most police officer assured that action would be taken once legal experts give their opinion and following which police would seek the consent from the Speaker to act on the complaint.
However, sources said that the inauguration of the building of the Psychiatry Hospital not only proved to be a nightmarish experience for the Dr Gurpreet Kour but also for the doctors of senior faculty as they were not informed about the inauguration, even Principal GMC hospital was not aware of the inaugural function. The procedure of bypassing seniors by juniors has also proved detrimental for the health of the health department.
Meanwhile, the Medical Faculty Association (MFA), Srinagar expressed its dismay and displeasure on the way the health minister held interactions with the doctors in SMHS hospital and demanded dignity as per their profession. They have also taken the serious note of the minister's behavior towards Principal GMC hospital Srinagar Dr Rafiq Pampori. "All the doctors expressed their dismay and displeasure on minister's interactions with them and have forcefully demanded that henceforth the faculty members and all other doctors be addressed with dignity in conformity to their position and status in the society", the MFA said in a statement.
